Overview: We provide legal advice concerning the purchase and sale of commercial real estate, agricultural land, oil and gas properties and homes. We have a great deal of experience in the examination of real estate titles, title insurance requirements and title curative documents. We represent companies and individuals who lease commercial property, agricultural land and residential property. We represent property owners in eminent domain proceedings and in property tax appeals. We have been involved in all aspects of construction litigation and breach of contract claims.
Oil & Gas Transactions: We represent buyers and sellers of oil and gas properties throughout Kansas, as well as providing counsel regarding mineral rights affecting real estate title transactions. See, Oil & Gas Area of Practice for additional information.
Commercial Real Estate: We represent buyers and sellers in the acquisition of real estate involving manufacturing facilities, office buildings and other commercial uses. We provide advice concerning leasing of retail, warehouses and office space.
Agricultural Property: We represent various investors in the purchase of agricultural property throughout the State of Kansas and the leasing of such property.
Residential Property: We advise buyers and sellers on the sale and leasing of homes.
Property Valuation: We represent landowners on property valuation issues and appeals.
Eminent Domain: We represent persons involved in eminent domain proceeding. See, City of Wichita v. McDonald’s Corp., 266 Kan. 708, 971 P. 2nd 1189 (1999).
Construction Litigation: We have represented owners, general contractors, subcontractors, architects and engineers in litigation concerning construction defects.
Environmental issues in real estate transactions: We advise clients concerning the need for environmental inspections and contract protection in the sale of real estate.
Rights of First Refusal: We have successfully litigated complex real estate contracts. Steven Gough received a favorable result in Waste Connections of Kansas, Inc. v. Ritchie Corporation, 296 Kan. 943, 298 P.3d 250 (2013), a case involving a right of first refusal. On October 16, 2015, Ritchie Corporation paid the full judgment in the amount of $1,934,307.35.
