We have considerable experience in both state and federal courts in litigating personal injury cases. We defend personal injury cases on behalf of major insurance companies. We also represent individuals who have compensable injuries against defendants who are not insured by any of our insurance clients. We believe that our experience and ability give us a substantial advantage in handling personal injury cases.
Preparation of the case: We know from first hand experience that many cases are won or lost as a result of how much preparation is devoted to the case by the attorney. We believe it is essential to obtain all of the pertinent medical records, employment records, witness statements, photos, and police reports. We interview eye-witnesses, investigating officers and treating physicians. If necessary, we retain accident reconstruction experts, liability experts and economists to evaluate liability and the amount of recoverable damages for loss of past and future earnings, retirement benefits, future medical care and other damages.
Insurance coverage: Personal injury litigation requires extensive knowledge of insurance coverage, including uninsured and underinsured insurance motorist coverage. The extent of available insurance coverage is often misunderstood or overlooked. We have extensive experience in insurance coverage. We give advice concerning the extent of available insurance coverage in personal injury cases.
Success: All of our lawyers have been successful in bringing and defending personal injury cases. On March 24, 2010 in the case of Dennis D. Gay v. Unified School District 435, et al, Case No. 09 CV 24, Dickinson County, Kansas, the jury awarded damages in the amount of $1.5 million to Mr. Gay after a seven-day jury trial. The case involved extensive preparation. Experts included two neuropsychologists, two rehabilitation experts, a vocational expert, a life care expert, and an economist. On May 17, 2010, the defendants paid the judgment.
